I tried searching here and online, but couldnR17;t find good guidance. IR17;m starting a creative company in Philadelphia, PA. I have some friends and contacts that are really good at certain things and I want to have them help with the company. I’ve been doing freelance for a while and pretty much only have sole proprietorship experience.
Would it be smarter to form an LLC and hire them as employees? I’m trying to keep things lean but also legal. This is a startup in the most stereotypical fashion so there’s not a lot of cash flow yet, but each person will be taking an active role. For example, one guy will be in charge or hardware installs and computing stuff (kind of taking his freelance business and combining it into this). I’m not sure what the legal classification would be because the contractor definition doesn’t fit.
Just looking for resources or anecdotes to point me in the right direction!
